Okay, this isn't about me, Stanley. This about Mom and the ghost cupcakes she made that I'm not allowed to eat. I would like to try one and see if it's true that chocolate is bad for Pugs - c'mon, just ONE! Anyways, if you want to make these for Halloween, check out Mom's eHow article... How to Make Ghost Cupcakes with Marshmallow Fondant.

Cleaning Pug Wrinkles

Here is an eHow article you should see... How to Clean Your Pug's Wrinkles.
I know it's a nasty job. Hey, us Pugs don't like it so much either. It's just one of those things that has to be done.

Pug Bath!

How embarrassing! I wonder how Mom would like it if I photographed her while taking a bath, hmmm? And look at what I take a bath in - a utility sink! Oh well, I guess it doesn't matter where I take my bath - I'd hate it even in a big bath tub. I think I smell fine, so I don't understand why I have to go through this torture anyways!
As you can see, I survived - I always do.

Rain, Rain, Go Away!

It sure has been raining a lot in Rochester! My mom goes outside with her camera on wet days as well as dry days. She liked the way this tree looked two-toned from the rain.

This is where you can find me on rainy days!

Pug Stock 2009

What a fun time Pug Stock was! I had no idea how many "me's" live in this area. I must have met over 100 Pugs. And only ONE grumpy one. I'm having sweet dreams tonight, with visions of Pugs dancing in my head - especially that cute little black female one. Did you see her picture? What a cutie! It was a big day. Goodnight.

Three Bridges and One New Friend

I wanted you to see the bridges on the trail I walked today. After we crossed three bridges, Mom made me turn around to begin our walk back to the car. As soon as we back-track, I know my fun is about to end and I move in slow motion - at least until I hear the magic word.... "treat!"

And this is a new friend I met along the way. I didn't catch her name.

Stanley Leading the Way

"I want to walk on THIS side of the street."
"And this is why... good place for a quick stop."
"Yeah, sure I'll come home for a bacon-flavored treat!"

Bet You Can't Do This!

Now the whole world knows I have a freakishly long tongue - thank a bunch Mom! This picture was taken as my rolly polly chin was being petted, and I (obviously) was cleaning my own snout! I'm gonna hide that camera!

Pug Ripples

See me "swimming" in the water. Yeah, I know dogs can swim, but this is as far as I go! This is my private little beach at the park. I go in the water until in touches my belly - then get a big drink of water.

Mom took me here for 2 days in a row. She laughs because she doesn't have to coax me to walk down the steps that lead to outside when I know I'm going to the park - she lets go of the leash and I run down the stairs, and run to the car. I used to run to any car in our parking lot, but know I've learned which car gets me to where I want to go. I'm such a smart Pug!

Is It Dinner Time Yet?

"Hey lady, you gonna put something in this dish any time soon?"

Still hoping more Pugs will RSVP with "yes" to PugStock. I need friends. Maybe I can then begin to think less about food.

Today was just an ok day. My mom has been pre-occupied with a sick family member. I think she feels like she's not giving me enough attention (let her think it). But tomorrow she is taking me to the park to run and play first thing in the morning!!

Oh yeah, this morning when I was standing under a tree in the back yard, a big ole walnut just missed my head! Not a good time of the year to stand under walnut trees!

PugStock

I'm quite photogenic I'm told, and I have to agree. I kind of look human in this picture, don't you think? This must have been taken when I was in deep thought about something Mom said. She was talking about how the weather is getting cooler and cooler, and soon I will have to wear a sweater outside. She's not sure if she's going to buy a sweater at the store or make one for me. I've seen some of her knitted creations - I hope she chooses the store!

But I really wanted to let everyone know that on September 20th, I'm going to PugStock! I get to spend 4 hours playing with others who look just like me, and we won't have to wear leashes! I'm very excited about this! So far though only 3 other Pugs have RSVP'd, and I am so hoping to make lots of new friends. If you live near Rochester, New York, please try to attend PugStock. Read all about it at http://pugslife.org Hope to see you there!

Alone For 3.25 Hours Today

I don't know where Mom went (maybe to the park without me), but I was home alone for 3.25 hours today. I hate to be alone. When she finally got home, she gave me a treat (chicken flavored!) and took me for a long walk... I had no choice but to forgive her.

I heard Mom talking on the phone tonight something about a Pug Play Group. I don't know all the details, but I think it's something I could be interested in. I love to play with other dogs! Especially Pugs! I met a cute Pug at the drive-in theater 3 weeks ago. Her name was Rosie. It seemed that I liked Rosie more than she liked me; isn't that the way it goes though? Anyways, I'll give you all the details on "Pug Play" just as soon I learn them.

Dang... too short to order

Almost every day my mom and I walk past Dunkin' Donuts, but we've never stopped. Today no cars were at the drive-thru, so I was allowed to go inspect. The pictures of the sandwiches looked really yummy and I would have ordered one, had the speaker been a little lower - dang - couldn't quite reach it:( Don't feel sad for me though - I got a nice treat when we returned home. I'm so lucky that I got my treat, because just before we went on our walk, I almost got into the kitty litter, and I brought dirty socks from the bathroom to the livingroom. Mom kind of laughed about the socks but NOT the kitty litter. But when you are as adorable as I am, moms overlook many naughty things!

Chanel, Oldest Dog on Record Passes Away

Doggie news from around the globe...

I just want to say good-bye to Chanel, the oldest dog on record, who passed away at the age of 147 (doggie years). I hear she lived a long, happy life with her mom, Denice Shaughnessy. Denice adopted Chanel when she was just 6 weeks old. They've been together for a very long time, so Chanel's mom will need lots of prayers.

Chanel was given a certificate from Guinness World of Records officials at her 21st birthday party in Manhattan.

Reese's Peanut Butter Cups were her favorite treat. Denice said that once she ate an entire bag of them! (How I would like to know what a peanut butter cup tastes like!)

RIP Chanel.

I Love the Park!

This picture was taken right after my mom said, "Stanley, you want to go to the park?"
I soooo love going to the park. I love it so much, Mom tries very hard not to even whisper the word "park" if we aren't going, because I get very excited! I love all the different smells there; and there are so many!

Wow, did I ever have fun! - except for when I saw Max - the only unfriendly dog I've met so far at the park. He's smaller than me, but his teeth are bigger. Today was the second time we crossed paths. But Mom protected me - PHEW!!

This is me enjoying one of those smells at the park!

And here I am two hours later. I was so tired. So many things to see, to smell... and I've got to tell you, there are many, many spots that have yet to be 'marked' by me - but I can only drink so much water - there's always tomorrow - I hope we go tomorrow!

Love and wet kisses,
Stanley

Been At My Home For 5 Weeks Now

My life before the Pug Shelter? Well, we won't talk about that. But I've lived a happy life now for the last 5 weeks. I do have much responsibility though - I have to put up with my new mom showing me off to her family and friends, take Mom on walks throughout the day (she likes to go outside alot!), keep the cat at bay, come when she calls my name (I do pretend to not hear her sometimes though - geez, give a Pug a break!), "sit" whenever a treat is offered to me, although I don't see why that is necessary, and try my best to look adorable at all times (luckily this comes natural).

I do refuse to play "fetch" though. I mean, if Mom wants to throw that stupid Frizbee, go get it, throw it again... well, I'd be glad to watch, but I'm just not doing it... what's the point?

AND, I would like to just add that if I had a dog biscuit for every time I hear, "he's so ugly, he's cute," I'd be fat! Deal with it - wrinkles are cute on Pugs!

Love and wet kisses,
Stanley
